The number game
Up to 20 players can play this game
What You Need
You will need a sheet of paper, a pen for each player, and a timer (watch, alarm clock, kitchen timer etc.).
Objective
You have to come up with a total as close as possible to the one indicated by the dealer, using only one of the numbers written in each of the five cards handed out and using each of the four arithmetical operations: one addition, one subtraction, one division, one multiplication only once.
How to Calculate Your Score
When you calculate your score you will have to remember to count the two decimals after the point. The points you will score have to be calculated in the following way: if the number you have come up with is bigger than the number indicated by the dealer then you will have to subtract the dealer’s number from yours
e.g. The dealer’s number is 277, you have come up with 280.56- your final score will be 280.56-277= 3.56. If the number you have come up with is smaller than the dealer’s then you will do vice-versa: subtract your number from the dealer’s
e.g. If you have come up with 273.45 – your final score will be 277-263.45= 3.55.
The total score will be equal to the total number of points scored in each round and the number of rounds is equal to the number of players. The winner is the player who has the lowest score.
Bonus
The winner of each round will win a bonus of -1. Whoever manages to come up with the exact number wins an extra -10 points.
How to Play
Every player will have 5 cards at his disposal. After having dealt the cards the dealer will indicate a number from 0-1000. At that point you can turn the cards over. Using one number per card and all four arithmetical operations-just once- you will have to come up with a number that is as close as possible to the dealer’s number. When the time is up each player will reveal his number. Once this number has been checked the player will get a bonus of -1. If two players come up with the same score the player whose turn it is to deal wins that round. The winner is the player who has the lowest score.
